About SPL
In the summer of 2003, Surya Prakash was the lead researcher on a major research project sponsored by Intel Research, USA and Digital Partners, USA to study the kiosks of Drishtee Dot Com Ltd and understand the use of Information & Communications Technologies (ICT) in development and its socio-economic impact in rural India.
From Oct 2003-July 2004, Surya Prakash researched on Social Entrepreneurship and wrote three Case Studies (similar to Harvard MBA Class Case Studies) as part of Case Documentation of Best Practices in Social Entrepreneurship in Thailand, Indonesia and India for Asian Institute of Management-Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (AIM-ACE), Manila, Philippines and Conference of Asian Foundations and Organisations (CAFO). These case studies have been published as a part of the book on Social Entrepreneurship.
He has conducted workshops for Deshpande Foundation, Johnson & Johnson and others on Social Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprises, Financial management and reporting, and Due diligence.
During the years he spent in the United States, Surya Prakash raised resources from the Non Resident Indian community for social causes back home and was part of the Rejuvenate India Movement, AID Sankalp – Literacy Focus Group, Social Health Education Development Society, Propoor and others.
His previous assignments have been with Cordant, SelfCorp and Informix Software in the US and Parikh Steel, GPT Steel Industries and Punwire Trunking Services in India.
Surya Prakash is committed and works towards promoting sustainable development, micro-finance, income & employment generation and social enterprises in India.
